Tips for each section
- Contact: no full street address needed — city and state are enough.
- Education: list your current school first. Drop middle school once you're in high school.
- Experience: 2–3 bullets per entry, newest first.
- Skills: 6–10 items, grouped so they're easy to scan.
Formatting rules
One page, a clean font (Calibri, Arial, Garamond) at 10.5–12 pt, consistent date formats, and save as both Word and PDF so you can submit whichever an employer asks for.
Common questions
What sections should a student résumé have?
Contact info, a short summary, education, experience (jobs, volunteering, or projects), skills, and activities or awards.
Should I put my GPA on my résumé?
Include it if it is 3.0 or higher, or if the application asks for it.
Word or PDF?
Keep both. Submit a PDF unless the employer asks for a Word document.
